WHAT IS AREOLA PIGMENTATION?
AREOLA PIGMENTATION-3D SHADING
Areola pigmentation is a tattoo designed to recreate or enhance the color and shape of the areola and nipple following a mastectomy or breast reconstruction surgery. Color matching is used to create realistic result for your skin tone while strategic placement can improve symmetry and disguise scarring.
The illusion of a protruding nipple can be achieved without nipple reconstruction surgery with the use of specific tattoo shading techniques to create depth and texture.
Areola pigmentation is an outpatient procedure that can be completed in a few hours. Application of the tattoos takes about an hour per breast in addition to the time required to ensure proper areola placement and color matching. A topical anesthetic is applied before and during the procedure for comfort. A 3 week follow up appointment is scheduled for any necessary touch-ups to ensure lasting results.
